Description
A very fine and rare William & Mary late 17th century walnut fold-over table. Of unusual form and most pleasing proportions. The rectangular top veneered with crossbanding and chevron stringing. The twin flaps opening forward and supported on pull out brackets revealing the four rectangular panels of the interior each crossbanded with chevron stringing. The twin oak lined drawers, sides and back of the table also crossbanded with further chevron stringing above a deep moulding. The beautifully formed barley sugar twist legs with capitals and bases and united by and ‘X’ form stretcher base on bun feet. The whole in remarkable original condition with superb undisturbed patination. Circa: 1690 Length: 106cm, Width: 51cm, Height: 76cm, Open top: 102cm x 106cm.
