A most impressive oil on canvas portrait of Duke Albrecht Eugen of Wurttemberg (1865-1939) by Alfred Hildenbrandt (1874-1955).
Dressed in military uniform leaning on his sword and wearing the Austrian Order of the Golden Fleece. The last Crown Prince of Werttemberg Albrecht was married to the Archduchess Margarite Sophie of Austria. In 1907 (the year this portrait was painted) he was made an honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, the breast star of which he is depicted wearing. He died at Altshausen Castle in 1939 having followed a distinguished military career. Framed in a very fine carved wood gilt frame Height: 150cm Width: 107cm
