Description
A 17th century oil on canvas portrait of Mary of Modena (1659-1718) circle of Casper Netscher. Mary of Modena Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland was the second wife of James II and VI and mother of the Jacobite pretender to the throne, Charles Edward Stuart. The painting depicts Mary apparently wearing her coronation dress of cloth of silver embroidered in gold with an ermine lined crimson velvet mantle across her shoulder.
