Description
A very rare 18th century first period Worcester tea pot with turquoise ground. Of sectional globular shape with entwined branch handle with fine gilding to the handle spout and lid. This teapot was sold as lot 30 by Leonard Joel Auctions on the 17th December 1942 for 12 pounds. As part of the Howard collection, a major collection of mostly English 18th and early 19th century porcelain of over 900 lots sold over six auctions. The lid of the teapot also bears the sticker of the prestigious Joshua McClelland Gallery who may have supplied the teapot to Mrs Howard or may have purchased it at her auction themselves. The teapot has and underglaze fret mark to the base. Circa: 1770 Height: 14cm Width: 20cm
