Description
A fine 16th century Italian (Tuscany) walnut and cedar cassone. The front divided into two oval panels exuberantly carved in high relief with traces of original gilding to the edges of the flamboyant paper-scrolls. The end supports carved with large grotesque masks. The base with a frieze of stylized scallop shells supported on low scrolling feet. Circa: 1580 Length: 172cm, Depth: 56cm, Height: 56cm.
