A very large and fine 17th century Felletin (Aubusson) tapestry woven in wool and silk depicting the Old Testament story of King David, Bathsheba and Uriah. The central figure of David ordering Bathsheba’s husband Uriah to the front line of battle. Bathsheba stands to Davids left with a shepherd tending his flock with an encampment beyond. The left hand lower corner shows a man herding a flock of animals including a camel. The border of scrolling acanthus leaves and flowers interwoven with ribbons. Circa: 1680 Height: 260cm, Width: 420cm.
