Description
A rare and fine Italian late 16th century/early 17th century carved and gilt wood tabernacle frame with latter mirror. Of late renaissance architectural design with deeply moulded rectangular frame with central raised guilloche design moulding. The lower section with rectangular panels supporting framed oval paintings of castellated towers with bold vertical acanthus scrolls above. The top with bracket like arrangements of fruit and flowers issuing from battlements to each side. In excellent order and retaining original gilding. Circa: 1600 Height: 130cm Width: 96cm
