Description
A very fine 17th century Brussels tapestry after the series by Charles Le Brun commissioned by Louis XIV. Depicting an idyllic classical garden scene with five children playing blind mans bluff before a fountain and a classical building within a verdure landscape overlooked by a boldly coloured parrot perched in an overhanging tree. The twin borders of lively design in the high baroque taste with male and female figures and putti with monkeys playing with dolphin fountains at the base. In excellent condition and retaining bright colours circa: 1680.
