Very fine early 19th century Spanish embroidered velvet altar frontal. Finely worked with silver and gilt threads with scrolling foliage borders, volutes and anthemion motifs. The black velvet ground scatterd with gilt metal sequins. An altar frontal of this superior quality would most like have been reserved for Royalty or other of a very high rank of nobility.
