Description
A delightful mid 18th century Louis XV Aubusson tapestry woven in wool and silk after a design by Jean-Baptiste Pillement (1728-1808). The exotic chinoiserie scene with a heron before a lake with a bridge leading to a rocky pinnacle with temples and pagodas. A startled parrot perches on a branch with a waving palm tree above and cactus below. A complete scene with a wide rope-twist and acanthus leaf picture frame border. A beautiful and unaltered tapestry of the mid-18th century retaining strong colours and contrasts.
